about Wey Farm Kennels and Cattery, including its history

Wey Farm

Wey Farm is a family run business which has been established since 1977.

All the staff at Wey Farm are genuine animal lovers. We love to see happy animals and aim to provide safe, comfortable and fun havens for your pets.

The farm is set in 50 acres of beautiful rolling Surrey countryside and has its own 5-acre lake. It is only minutes from Britain's main arterial road network, close to London (20 miles) and the major London airports.

Most staff live on site and CCTV is operated 24 hours a day. Our electronic gates are shut between 5pm - 8am and 1pm - 2pm.

Our History

Wey Farm Boarding Kennels and Cattery was the home of the world-famous champion Helmlake Great Danes.

We also used to breed Dobermans, Dachshunds and Hungarian Vizslas, whilst our associate kennel, "Fearnought" bred English Bulldogs and English Mastiffs.

Unfortunately, we do not breed puppies anymore, but you can contact us for advice on these breeds.

Karina Le Mare

Karina Le Mare was born in Norway. Her parents bred Great Danes, Setters, Pointers and Wire Fox Terriers, and she grew up surrounded by animals. Karina attended the Rudolf Steiner School which instilled in her a reverence for life and animals.

When she came to England she established her famous Helmlake Kennel, and in her first litter of fawns produced three champions. She has since bred numerous champions in different breeds and various colours.

She judged Great Danes all over Europe, the USA, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, and is the only judge authorised to judge the breed in Germany, its country of origin.

Her book "Great Danes", covers the care, training, breeding, pregnancy and whelping of the wonderful breed.

It is published by: Crowood Press, Ramsbury, Marlborough, Wiltshire SN8 2HR (ISBN 1 85223 316 8). We can mail a copy of this book to anyone who wants one.
